[Warning: some people might be offended by what is written in this section.  If you are of one these people please don’t read my section, and if you decide to read it please don’t complain about what an elitist I am.]

First of all, I am sick and tired of MHC women who claim to care, and are liberals, and never do anything to help the cause they ‘care’ about. Ladies-- wake up and smell the coffee, the tea, or whatever caffeine drink you take in the morning, you can not just talk about the causes-- you actually have to do something to make a change in this society. Please don’t tell me you are too busy writing your thesis, because if you think your thesis or your classes are more important than real world issues you have a serious problem. I am not telling people to quit college, all I am saying is that I am tired of the b.s. I hear in classes, because if you care then you do something—anything-- to help the situation. And if you do not want to do anything please do not criticize those who are trying to do something. Please stop (as we say in NYC) ‘hating’ because we are successful at we do and you are not. I beg you not to compare your silly pizza ordering for finals to our activism.  I put my words in action.

I may not be perfect but at least I can look in the mirror, and say that I am proud of who I see. All I can say is that if I am communist and an elitist as some people have claimed then that is their problem. I know that whatever label I am given is not important-- what matters is what action I take in life. Those people who call us elitist don’t really know us or understand what we’re doing, not because they haven’t been given the chance, but because they refuse to become involved. Yes, I do take this activism seriously because you know what, this is not a game or some class project—this is about real people and real consequences. I cannot negate or forget that I have privilege, no matter my skin color or economic situation, and I feel that I have a duty to take my share in this war against capitalism: the root of all of our problems. You can choose to ignore the symptoms of  a sickness till it breaks you down, and to me the United States is ignoring all the signs that it has been given.

Yesterday I went to a talk and the speaker, Raoul Peck, said that Americans seem to forget that the rest the world lives outside of the United States. I was nodding my head because people do forget that the world is not simply the United States. Americans also seem to forget that the world is affected by every action the United States takes, including those actions that provoke the poverty, famine, and war in the world.  We pride ourselves in this great country but the truth is that we are rotten at the core and we deprive the world of their share, while we do not even provide for those within in our borders.
