GIRL SCOUTS

There are 2-3 students assigned to each troop, with an almost indefinite number of troops. Meetings occur once a week or every other week at a time that fits into the volunteers' schedule. They can take place at a local church or school, and often transportation isn't needed because it is within easy walking distance. Troops usually start up in September or October, but others begin in the winter time, and we could always start the training process for the next year.

Basically, a troop leader arranges a time to meet with her co-leaders and organizes a troop of about 10 girls. The ages of the girls vary depending on which girl scout level the volunteer would like to work with (K-12). We plan activities such as crafts and games and snack for the girls, along with occasional trips/outings if wanted. It can basically be as much of a commitment as the volunteer wants it to be, and there are always ways to help out.
