From the Focus the Nation website:
"Focus the Nation is building the climate movement and popular support for climate change actions in the U.S. We are working hard to spread global warming awareness, discussion, and action.
By this January 31st, 2007, we are trying to register over 300 schools, businesses, faith organizations, and any other group or organization to address global warming in their communities. As members you all will receive our bulletins about events in your area, nationwide actions being taken, and actions you can take in your area. It will all culminate on January 31, 2008, the national symposium day to address climate change. By then we hope to have far more than 1,000 organizations as members. On or around this day, there will be symposiums on campuses and communities across the country to discuss global warming and also to vote on future actions to be taken. If we raise enough awareness, global warming will be a major campaign issue in the 2008 elections."
MHC's Chapter is currently working closely with the administration and general student body to create a plan that will ensure that this event is effective and exciting. If you'd like to help out or contribute ideas, email Jane Flegal at flega20j@mtholyoke.edu.
