Amherst Chinese Christian Fellowship

ACCF is a Chinese-speaking congregation that meets for worship on Sundays in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Amherst and in homes throughout the week for Bible study and prayer. ACCF is a close-knit community made up of many 5-College students, families and faculty. You can anticipate authentic home-made Chinese food, thought-provoking sermons, and people who will love you like family.

Amherst Kiononia Church

AKC is led by a team of students for the 5-Colleges under the guidance of Pastor Matt Raptis. Students gather on individual campuses during the week for Bible study and prayer. AKC at MHC meets for Friday Night Fellowship at 7:30 pm at the ACE house. Sunday worship is in Chapin Chapel at Amherst College at 1:00 pm - the atmosphere is casual and friendly. Expect deeply thoughtful, intelligent and relevant preaching from Pastor Matt Raptis and great contemporary worship for the student worship band.

College Church

College Church is one of the larger local churches. Sunday worship is led by a contemporary worship band. College Church is known for its involvement with global missions, including frequent group trips (which have included MHC students) to orphanages in Russia. The pastor of College Church is Reverend Dave McDowell.

First Baptist Church of Amherst

First Baptist is a welcoming international and multi-racial community known for its outreach to the community through programs such as ESL classes, a food pantry and a medical clinic. Worship style ranges from folk to classical. College ministry includes a weekly homemade lunch (usually attended by 100+ 5-College students) and frequent social gatherings such as camping trips and maple sugaring excursions. The church is led by Pastor Greg Mozel. FBC sees caring for students as one of its primary missions. Students are encouraged to participate in every aspect of church life, from singing in the choir to helping chaperone high school youth group events.

Mercy House

Mercy House is a lively 5-College student church that envisions a community of people in all stages of their spiritual journey who are passionately in loving God and actively loving people. Students who are involved with this church love the community, the weekly small group Bible studies and the question-friendly atmosphere. Mercy House is led by pastor Robert Krumrey.

St. John's Congregational Church

St. John's is a warm and welcoming African American church in the heart of Springfield. The church is named for the abolitionist John Brown, who was a member, and was once a stop on the Underground Railroad. It remains a center of both community activism and spiritual life in Springfield. Expect beautiful gospel-style worship and powerful life-changing preaching in the African American tradition. The thriving congregation is led by Reverend Howard John Wesley.

Stony Brook Community Church

Stony Brook is a family-oriented church just a block from the Village Commons in South Hadley. MHC students value the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity to be connected with local families. Stony Brook holds events specifically for MHC students such as an annual apple-picking day and holiday meals in homes for international students. Stony Brook's pastor, Dan Brown, taught at Mount Holyoke for several years and was recently a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Religion Department. His sermons are scholarly, thought-provoking, relevant and applicable. Worship on Sunday mornings includes hymns and contemporary worship songs and is led by a worship band.
