Greetings delegates and faculty advisors,
It is my deepest pleasure to invite you all to the second annual Five College Model United Nations conference, affectionately known as FCMUN, to be held at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts on April 3-5, 2009. Although Mount Holyoke College is the physical host of our conference, FCMUN is a joint effort drawing on the resources of the Five College Consortium: Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
We hope all delegates who attended our inaugural conference will be pleasantly surprised by the many changes they will encounter at FCMUN 2009. Namely, we have done away with GA simulations. All committees will be crisis-based simulations, led by a dynamic chair/crisis-manager duo, and consisting of 9-20 delegates each.
We are thrilled, however, to continue the FCMUN legacy of the on-campus experience. By having delegates stay in Mount Holyoke dorms, we eliminate the pricey hotel-stay costs and are able to keep our delegate fees uniquely low. Last year’s delegates cannot stop talking about the friendships they made at FCMUN 2008, with conference participants and their Mount Holyoke hosts alike.
Please join us for our second year and do not hesitate to contact us at fcmun09@gmail.com with any and all of your questions and concerns.
Hope to see you in April!
Laura W. Bernstein
Secretary-General
