May Pageant
Mount Holyoke's spring tradition until the 1960's, May Pageant was held on the first
of May with theatre, dance, and a traditional May pole.
The Pagan and Wiccan Collective revived this tradition in Spring of 2002.
The May Pageant is now held every year on a Friday near May 1st, and includes
Senior thesis dance performances, a cappella singing,
a vendor fair, and the dancing of the May Pole. Starting in 2007, the PWC joined with MHC's
Green Partners (Center for Environment, EAC, and others) to create a larger festival under the
traditional name of Pangy Day. Everyone in the community is welcome at this secular celebration of spring!
The May Pageant for 2008 is on Friday, April 25th, at 1:00pm on Skinner Green (rain location: Chapin Auditorium).
We hope you'll be able to join us!
