Section II. The Renegades will adhere to all local, state, and federal laws of the United States of America.

Article III. Membership
Section I. Membership requirements are as follows:

  • The individual is affiliated with Mount Holyoke College (student, faculty, staff, alumna) unless an exception is made by a majority of the qualified members;

  • Membership is strongly dependent on game sessions. Once a commitment is made to attend a game session, it is strongly encouraged that members attend every session unless they have previously made other arrangements with their game master (herein thereafter referred to as the “GM”).

Section II. Membership privileges are as follows:

  • Members have access to the library of role-playing books owned by the Renegades;

  • Members received training/guidance in role-playing and in the mechanics of role-playing system;

  • Members are assisted and trained in the art of being a GM if desired;

  • Members have a safe and fun atmosphere in which they may role-play with others.

Section III. The Renegades will not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, color, national origin, religion, disability, gender, vital status, marital status, socioeconomic background, height, body type, strength, knowledge, charisma, dexterity, intelligence, constitution, wisdom, armor class, hit points, alignment, or sexual orientation.

Article IV. Officers
Section I. Any member, if applicable, can have more than one position. All Officers Must Attend All Meetings, unless there are mitigating circumstances. Any missing officer should tell the GM if she is going to be absent. Titles of Officers are as follows:

  • President (maximum of 2): The position of President/co-President includes a range of responsibilities not confined to chairing general and executive board meetings, making purchase decisions in conjunction with the executive board, and being a liaison between the Renegades and the Mount Holyoke College community. She is also responsible for keeping track of the Renegades' holdings. She is in charge of making sure that Renegades materials are checked out and checked in, and must know the whereabouts of all Renegades materials at any given time.
    Qualifications: The President(s) must have at least a semester of membership with the Association and must be a matriculated Mount Holyoke student. She must also have GMed, though does not have to be active in that duty. She must possess a dedication to role-playing and its continuation. These responsibilities may be alternated between co-presidents.

  • Treasurer: The position of Treasurer entails the keeping of all of the Renegades' monies and includes the responsibility of executing the audit in a timely and organized manner. The Treasurer is also in charge of making sure the Renegades is not beholden to any individual or organization.
    Qualifications: The Treasurer must be a matriculated MHC student who is organized, detail-oriented, and responsible. She must insure that the financial well being of the Renegades is dealt with in a timely manner, and she is also expected to monitor the finances of the Renegades and bring up issues of finance or possible financial difficulties with the Executive Board as soon as possible. Additionally, the Treasurer is expected to meet all SGA requirements.

  • PR/Recruiting Director(s) (maximum of 2): The PR/Recruiting Director is responsible for raising awareness of the Renegades within the Mount Holyoke College community as well as expanding the membership of the Renegades. She is required to keep membership records, which may include attendance records. She must promote the Renegades to the community at large and is responsible for publicizing any events the Renegades may host.
    Qualifications: The PR/Recruiting Director(s) must be a matriculated Mount Holyoke College student and be passionate about the Renegades.

  • Librarian: The Librarian will be responsible for the Renegades' books, dice, mats, and any other assorted equipment, such as figurines, glow-in-the-dark zombies, silly string, etc.
    Qualifications: The Librarian must be really freaking responsible, and bring the books to every meeting. This means the librarian should go to every meeting. Also, the Librarian should know the location of all the books, dice, goodies, etc at a moment's notice. You can and will be quizzed.

  • GM: Game Masters are required to run games. They are required to plan meetings. You would think this is easy, but it really is not. The GM must have planned enough, or have enough chutzpah (read as; tits), to be able to entertain a host a people, be fair-minded and just, know the book material, and keep the energy of the group up. The GM is required to stop in-fighting and be as diplomatic as possible. This is more than required, it's goddamn necessity.
    Qualifications: The GM must pass a GM test. This requires running a game, and proving you have all of the qualities listed above. We'll take just about any and everyone. The GM must be willing to make a commitment to her campaign and her players, and love them. Love them to death.

  • Webmistress: The Webmistress, also known as the Webdominatrix, maintains the webpage, adds quotes, keeps the information on the site up to date, and makes sure there is an appointed log-taker. The Webmistress is in charge of beating the log-taking in shape, for reasons including posting logs, keeping accurate quotes, and being annoying.
    Qualifications: The Webmistress should know how to do web-pages, and then actually do them.

  • Shadow President: The Shadow President does all the jobs of a President, but is often self-appointed or appointed by the President. The Shadow President keeps the President on track, by methods including pestering, screaming, pleading, beating, dissecting, and kidnap.
    Qualifications: The Shadow President should be more competent than the President.

Article V. Advisor
Section I. The Advisor, who gets a Capital Letter, and who Isn't Exactly Necessary, is chosen under the following criteria:

  • The advisor must be interested in role-playing.

  • She/he must have a pertinent connection to the Mount Holyoke College community.

  • She/he must be willing to meet with the executive board by appointment to discuss any pressing issues that require his/her input and advice.

  • The Advisor is welcome to attend Renegades meetings, but this is not a requirement.

Article VI. Election and Removal of Officers
Section I. Elections for the office of President and Treasurer will be held in April of each academic year. Elections for all other offices will be held whenever a position is vacated, or every April of each academic year, whichever comes first.

Section II. Election Procedures are as follows:

  • All those running must first be nominated by a member of the Renegades; this may include self-nomination.

  • Those running for office must be present at election time, or have nominated a proxy beforehand to speak on their behalf.

  • Candidates are elected through a majority vote. If a candidate does not win, she may run for another office if nominated.

  • Votes will be taken via a secret ballot (the ancient method of “Heads Down, Hands Up”) and counted by a member of the Renegades who is not running for a position and is ideally graduating from Mount Holyoke College in May of the given academic year.

Section III. Procedure for removal of officers is as follows:

  • The removal of an Executive Board member from office is brought to the organization by board consensus (excluding the member in question). The member is asked to withdraw from the Executive Board if there is a two-thirds organization majority in favor thereof. The member must be granted the opportunity to present a case in her defense to the organization at large prior to the vote.

Article VII. Meetings
Section I. Frequency of regular meetings:

  • Regular meetings will occur on at least a weekly basis.

  • Regular Executive Board meetings will occur on at least a monthly basis, or when they get off their lazy butts and do it.

Section II. Provisions for special meetings:
Special meetings will be held for any pressing reason arranged by any members who feel the need for such an event in conjunction with the Executive Board.

Article VIII. Quorum
Section I. Definition of a quorum:
Quorum for the Renegades is defined as a simple majority.

Section II. When a Quorum is Necessary:
Quorum is necessary for the election or removal of officers within the Renegades.

Article IX. Amendments and Bylaws
Section I. Provision for Amendments and Bylaws:

  • An amendment may be presented by any member of the Renegades and requires a 2/3 majority in favor to be instituted.

  • Alternatively, an amendment may be presented by a member of the Executive Board and require a 2/3 majority to take effect.

Article X. Committees
Section I. If the organization decides to sponsor a conference or special event, the Executive Board shall establish a standing committee at their discretion.

Article XI. In-Game Restrictions and Regulations

Section I. The Renegades have several restrictions on character classes.

  • Rogue: If a player wishes to become a rogue, this character must obtain special permission. This permission is called a “Rogue's License or a “Thieves' Guild Permit”. This permission will be granted to people who have proved their competency in general game play, such as understanding the game mechanics and or show they understand how to play the gentle intricacies of backstabbing, trap-finding, and skills checks.

  • Players are required to create original characters and develop deep personalities. While they may be inspired from other sources, they are encouraged to delve deep inside themselves and pull out their weirdest quirks. Also, role-play.

  • Seriously, though, we don't need that many elves.

  • The GM is God, and her rules should be above all. She is always right, so get used to it. If she says no innate half-dragon, half-fairy, half-drow, half-elf hilariously twinkish and painful demigods… There will be no half-dragon, half-fairy, half-drow, half-elf hilariously twinkish and painful demigods.

Section II. After a semester, players are required to know game mechanics. Penalization involves massive sk00ling of the n00bx0rz, and light playful teasing.
