Student Support Services
Mount Holyoke is known for its friendly, welcoming community. From the moment your daughter arrives at the College through the day she receives her diploma, she will be supported in her curricular and cocurricular life by faculty and staff across the campus.
Advising, overseen by the Dean of the College, is a priority at Mount Holyoke. Academic deans and advisers can answer your daughter's questions about such matters as course selection, distribution requirements, and choosing a major.
The Office of the Dean of the College also oversees other student services, including the Pattie Groves Health Center, which offers inpatient and outpatient medical and nursing services, counseling services, the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Project, and health education. The Office of Learning Skills assists students with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder.
Eliot House, home of the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, has four chaplains and a number of faculty and staff advisers who respond to the pastoral and liturgical needs of the College's diverse communities.
Library, Information, and Technology Services (LITS) has a collection of more than 700,000 print volumes; a wide variety of ebooks, ejournals, digital databases, and online reference materials; an Information Commons housing 40 high-end computers; a staffed help desk; and hands-on workshops on everything from creating Web pages in Dreamweaver to using PowerPoint for class presentations. In addition, all residence halls have computer labs, and every student room has a direct Internet connection.
The Career Development Center (CDC) assists students with locating internships, applying to graduate schools, finding jobs, and applying for fellowships and scholarships. Preprofessional advising, job fairs, skills workshops, and one-on-one counseling are just a few of the CDC's many resources.
