Security
The Department of Public Safety is dedicated to protecting the Mount Holyoke community. Its professionally trained, licensed police officers patrol the campus 24 hours a day.
Blue-light safety phones, which automatically connect callers to Public Safety, are located throughout the campus. During evening hours, students may request a ride from the SAFE ride van. Public Safety also operates regular vans to a nearby supermarket and to the Holyoke Mall.
Public Safety works with the Office of Residential Life to ensure the safety of the College's 19 residence halls. Exterior doors to residence halls are locked at all times and may be accessed only with a valid ID card. Guests must be escorted by their hosts and can let hosts know they've arrived using the callboxes located outside each residence hall.
