Advising

All students in the Postbaccalaureate Prehealth Program receive individualized advising suited to their academic goals. In addition to working closely with your advisor, you’ll also benefit from the expertise of:

  • The Committee on the Health Professions
This advisory group comprises science faculty and career development counselors who are highly knowledgeable about the Mount Holyoke and Five College curricula, medical schools, and research/internship opportunities. So, in addition to your individual advisor, all members of the committee are available to provide guidance and answer questions. The committee also will write a composite letter of recommendation to accompany your medical school application.
  • The Career Development Center’s Director of Prehealth Advising
Dr. David Gardner is available to advise students interested in pursuing professional and graduate training in all areas of medicine. He can also assist you with obtaining clinical internships and research experiences. A former biology professor at Roanoke College, Dr. Gardner received his B.S. from Trinity College and his Ph.D. from Duke University.
