RA/TA Position Description and Application Process

Position Description

We are seeking two undergraduate students to serve as Residential and Teaching Assistants (RA/TA's) for the upcoming summer program, June 29 - July 26, 2008. Each TA will assist with research group investigations, as well as with afternoon and evening activities. RA/TA's will work closely with both the research group instructors and the students. RA/TA's will attend a week of staff orientation prior to the beginning of the program (6/21 to 6/27). Pay includes five weeks room & board and a stipend of $1,200.

Desirable Qualifications for Candidates

Candidates should be undergraduate mathematics majors with at least two years of college coursework. Demonstrated leadership and listening skills, ability to work on a team, stamina, sense of humor, and interest in working in a creative atmosphere is desired. Residential counseling experience in multicultural environments is a plus.

    a resume, including relevant experience
  • Two letters of reference, one speaking to relevant academic skills and the other speaking to residential experience and/or ability to work effectively with people
  • A response, after looking at the problem packets that student applicants are asked to submit (SEARCH Problem Packet), discussing in a few paragraphs what you see as the challenges in working on such problems, both for the students and for yourself.
