She teaches writing and public speaking, and is also a freelance journalist, creative nonfiction and fiction writer. For the past three years, during the months of January, she has been doing faculty development work at The Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia--and has focused on training teachers in communication skills pedagogy.
