Ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service

The Ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service commemorates the resurrection and ascention of Jesus after he was crucified and dead for three days.  In this ceremony, the ecumnical congregation comes together at 6:30am in the Gettell Amphitheater to rejoice and reflect as the sun rises, which symbolizes Jesus' ascention.  This is a celebratory event, as believers are reminded that Jesus' death and resurrection served a greater purpose.  Christians rejoice that Jesus' spirit is still with them after all this time and remember Jesus' message that because he is both in them and with them, their spirits have a divine presence.  The commemoration of Jesus' triumph over death emphasizes that God is alive in a new way, and that death is not the end.
