Presidential Search Committee
Staff Council was asked to take part in the process of identifying a staff representative to the Search Committee on the morning of February 26 when President Creighton announced her resignation. Staff Council created web and paper nomination forms and announced them to all staff via email on February 27. Nomination forms were compiled and members of the Staff Council verified that each candidate nominated by someone else was interested in the position.
Staff Council met to review the nominations. The council was determined to recommend a strong, diverse group of candidates from different levels, areas, and backgrounds of the organization to the Chair of the Board Leslie Miller, for her selection of two staff representatives. We advocated for the selection of two staff representatives on the Presidential Search Committee.
A confidential internal dialog took place regarding each candidate. In the event that a candidate was present that candidate left the room while their nomination was considered. All council members present made anonymous votes for their top five choices. Names, information and bios of the five candidates who received the largest numbers of votes were submitted to Leslie Miller for her review by March 16, 2009, as stipulated. The names of the nominees were kept confidential by request of Leslie Miller, who made the final selection of two staff representatives.
The entire Presidential Search Committee was announced on March 25. Michael Buckley, Superintendent of General Services in Facilities Management and Fred Kass, Network Systems Manager in LITS are the staff representatives.
