Theatre Arts

Mount Holyoke has an active theatre arts department, producing four or five mainstage productions annually. Opening night is always free for students. Recent shows at MHC include:

  • Venus, written by Suzan-Lori Parks, Pulitzer Prize winner and 1985 graduate of Mount Holyoke
  • The Prison of Women, the first play written by an Egyptian woman to be staged and produced at the National Theatre of Egypt
  • The Island, written by Athol Fugard and directed by Malcolm Purkey, founder of the Junction Avenue Theatre, Johannesburg's leading workshop company

You're welcome to take the stage at Mount Holyoke—each year, hundreds of students get involved in theatre productions. They may act, direct, design, or work on crew. You’ve also got access to dozens of other productions within the Five Colleges.
