Action Project The Action Project is the heart of the Take the Lead experience. Before arriving at Mount Holyoke, you will identify an issue that you care about. Then, with the help of your leadership mentor and peers, you’ll plan an Action Project to address the issue. Some Action Projects completed by past Take the Lead students:
- Getting a state law passed in Utah to study gender equity in pay
- Organizing a free camp for children who have witnessed domestic violence
- Developing an antihomophobia training program for high school teachers
- Creating and teaching an elective class on diversity
- Organizing Boston’s first job fair for the homeless
- Writing a play to speak out against capital punishment
While here, you’ll attend workshops on public speaking, mentoring, publicity strategies, community organizing, leadership styles, and fundraising. With these skills and experiences, you will be well on your way to making your project a reality upon returning home.
