Responding Effectively to Student Writing
Friday, October 26 12:15pm-1:15pm
When we respond to our students’ written work, what are our goals and expectations? What comments do we make and what questions do we ask? What philosophies guide our approaches to the kind of feedback we provide? What types of responses will best help our students continue to engage with the course material and grow as writers? Importantly, how do we measure the effectiveness of our feedback? In addition to sharing ideas and presenting specific strategies for effective written and verbal response to student writing, we invite you to bring to this workshop your own stories, strategies, and challenges to collaborate with fellow faculty in strengthening teaching practices across campus.
