Presentation Title
“Beyond Writing Centers: Classroom Mentoring and Public Speaking”
Presentation Abstract As an example of how writing centers can sustain and regenerate themselves, this panel presentation addresses two unique facets of the Speaking, Arguing, and Writing (SAW) program at Mount Holyoke College: an oral communications component and a student mentoring aspect that places writing and/or speaking tutors in classrooms, as well as the SAW Center. Student staff will discuss the transition to classrooms, as well as to speaking. Faculty will provide guidelines for participants’ institutional reconfigurations.
