CBL Program welcomes new Coordinator, Alan Bloomgarden [pdf]

Mount Holyoke College is pleased to welcome Alan Bloomgarden as Coordinator of the Community-Based Learning Program in the Weissman Center for Leadership.  Alan comes to Mount Holyoke from Smith College, where he was Director of Faculty Grants and Government Relations since 1996.  At Smith he was a long-time advocate of community-based learning and campus-community partnerships, and he has published on these subjects in the Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning, Metropolitan Universities, The International Journal of Service Learning in Engineering, and the Journal of the Professoriate among others.  He teaches “Introduction to Service Learning and Community Engagement” for master’s and doctoral students in the Higher Education program of the Graduate School of Education at the University of Massachusetts, where he is completing an Ed.D. (August, 2008).
