Student Leadership Essay Contest

What is distinctive leadership?
What does it take to change the world?
How has your leadership potential benefitted from your liberal arts education?

As part of the Weissman Center’s Tenth Anniversary celebrations this spring, we invited Mount Holyoke College students to share their thoughts on leadership and the liberal arts. Ten finalists were chosen and invited to the center's Anniversary Gala and Awards dinner where the winner of the essay contest, Judith Frank ’10, was announced. Student essayists were asked to reflect on transformative leadership, the power of a liberal arts education, and the ways in which Mount Holyoke women are uniquely positioned to effect positive change in the world. The following students were chosen as finalists for essays that reflected originality, passion and insights. Stephanie Argus ’09, Aleffia Somji ’09, Aba Asibon ’10, Martha Elson ’09, Ventseslava Encheve ’10, Emma Ferguson ’10, Judith Frank ’10, Nina Nebrebo ’10, Dyanne Rousseau ’10, and Wanling Su ’10. Congratulations!
