NCPTW Peer Tutor Scholarship and Travel Awards
The National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing is pleased to announce that monetary awards to support the scholarship, service, and conference participation of undergraduate and graduate writing center tutors have been established for the 2009 NCPTW conference. The two award types are as follows:
- Peer Tutor Scholarship Awards (Merit-Based)
The Scholarship Awards (up to $250) are intended to recognize the outstanding work of student presenters. Peer tutors who have had presentation proposals accepted and are registered for the upcoming 2009 conference are eligible to apply.
The committee will accept multiple applications from one institution but will try to make a balanced distribution of the scholarship funds to ensure awards for tutors from a number of schools. Tutors are encouraged to apply collaboratively for one award.

Completed applications must be submitted as an e-mail attachment to NCPTW c/o Laura Greenfield at ncptw2009@gmail.com no later than Wednesday, October 21, 2009.
This year’s award winners will be announced October 30, 2009, and the checks will be available for winners when they arrive at the conference.
- Peer Tutor Travel Award (Merit- and Need-Based)
The Travel Awards ($1000) are intended to support the participation of outstanding peer tutors who are unable to secure funding for conference travel elsewhere. Peer tutors who are eager to engage meaningfully as conference attendees are eligible to apply (having a presentation proposal accepted is not a requirement).
Students from institutions and populations historically under-represented at NCPTW are strongly encouraged to apply.
