NCPTW Peer Tutor Leadership Award Call for Nominations
This award will recognize an individual for dedication to and leadership in peer tutoring and collaborative learning within and beyond writing centers. Such work may be demonstrated in a variety of ways, including but not limited to
- Leadership through unusually successful work with student writers
- Leadership through special responsibilities in the writing center
- Leadership through fostering collaborative learning beyond the writing center
- Leadership through building connections with underrepresented groups on campus
- Leadership through discussion of difficult issues in the writing center
- Leadership through innovative approaches to peer tutoring
- Leadership through initiating new projects and programs
- Leadership through bold ethical commitments
- Leadership through contributions to the broader writing center community
- Leadership by inspiring and fostering leadership among peers
- Leadership through example by exhibiting qualities of hope, vision, collaboration, and action
Nomination process: Peer tutors can be nominated by anyone who can speak to their leadership in peer tutoring; however, we are particularly interested in nominations by fellow peer tutors.
The nominator should include the following information:
- The nominator’s name, contact information, and relationship to nominee
- The name of the nominee, his/her year in school, his/her peer tutoring position or title
- The nominee’s email address
- The nominee’s institution and writing center (or other peer tutoring forum)
- A letter of support (no more than 500 words) describing how this person demonstrates exemplary leadership in peer tutoring
- Multiple letters of support on behalf of the same nominee are welcome (be sure each writer provides his/her name, contact information, and relationship to nominee)
Nominations should be sent as a Microsoft Word attachment via email to ncptw2009@gmail.com.
Nominations due by October 1, 2009
Once nominations are received, we will contact the nominee to request additional information. The award recipient will be chosen by a committee of MHC student peer mentors.
