Friday Night Welcome Party
Join your conference hosts from Mount Holyoke College and the
“Bamidele Dancers and Drummers”

at the Springfield Marriott for

Desserts, Dancing, and Drumming

The “Bamidele Dancers and Drummers” are art educators, composers, musicians, dancers and choreographers from Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean who are dedicated to the preservation of African and African-rooted cultures through dance, music and song.  The company was selected to perform for Nelson Mandela in 1990 and have performed with folk singer Pete Seeger.  Led by Marilyn and Sekou Sylla, these talented artists will not only perform but engage road-weary writing center travelers in rejuvenating song and dance.  Learn more about the Bamidele troupe on their website at: http://www.bamidele.com/

Doors will open at 7:45 p.m. Come meet and greet your fellow conferees.
Dancing and drumming will begin at 8:15 pm
Desserts
and refreshing beverages will be served at 9:00 pm
