Job Applications

Application Process at a Glance

  • All MHC students, regardless of class year, language background, major, or mentoring experience are eligible to apply to work as mentors and assistants with the SAW program.
  • Applications are accepted each semester mid-way through the term.
  • Applicant interviews are held during the month following the application deadline.
  • Candidates are notified about decisions within several weeks of their interviews.
  • Newly admitted students enroll in CUSP-212 “Peer Mentoring: Theory and Practice” during registration to take the course the following semester.
  • Students will begin paid work with the SAW Program the semester after completing CUSP-212 (one year after the initial application).
  • All student staff members are eligible to work as assistants in the SAW Center and as classroom-based mentors; individual placements are decided each semester depending on Center needs, faculty requests, and student staff interest.

Materials needed
In addition to completing the online application below, applicants should submit a writing sample (5 pages minimum), a recorded speech (optional), and a resume to the SAW Program Administrative Office, Porter Hall 122.
