What are ".Apple" Files?

What are these files starting with ".Apple"? I didn't create them.

When you perform a directory listing (by using the ls or dir command) on one of the MHC computers, you will often see some folder names starting with ".Apple", like .AppleDouble and .AppleVolumes.

These files are necessary so that the volume can be mounted from a Macintosh computer. In fact, you should be very careful not to delete .AppleVolumes from your personal Webspace, since this will make it impossible to connect to your personal Webspace from the Chooser on a Mac.

The basic rule of thumb is: If you don't know what it is, don't delete it.

If you do accidentally delete your .AppleVolumes file, please send an email message to LITS Networking  to have it re-created.
