7000 BCE – The first Neolithic settlements in the Indus Valley

3000 BCE – The Indus Valley Civilization was created, population: ~ .5 million at its peak

2300 BCE – The civilization of Mohen-jo-daro, the largest Bronze Age city of the world, was created

1500 BCE – Aryan rule began: they founded the Vedic Civilization, between the Sarasvati river and Ganges river; they influenced the Indus Valley Civilization
– the caste system was created, placing themselves at the top and the native tribes lower

519 BCE – The Persian Achaemenid Empire conquered Sindh

326 to 325 BCE – Alexander the Great had some control over Sindh for a few decades, until his death

305 BCE – Maurya, led by Chandragupta, conquered Sindh

313 BCE – King Ashoka became ruler and popularized Buddhism in Sindh during his reign

711 CE – Muslim Arabs invaded Sindh under Muhammad bin Qasim
– Arab rule lasted for approximately 3 centuries

977 to 1524 CE – Sindh came under control of the Ghaznavid Empire and then the Delhi Sultanate

1058 to 1249 CE – Sumra Dynasty ruled Sindh

1249 to 1521 CE – Samma Dynasty ruled Sindh

1521 to 1554 CE – Arghun Dynasty ruled Sindh

1555 to 1612 CE – Turkhan Dynasty controlled Sindh

1612 to ~1700 CE – King Akbar invaded Sindh and ruled it via governors

1701 to 1783 CE – The Kalhoras ruled Sindh
– The Golden Period for the literature in Sindh, famous poets including Shah Latif, Sachal, and Sami lived in this era

1783 to 1843 CE – The Talpur Dynasty was in control of Sindh

1843 CE – British Rule, under General Charles Napier, conquered Sindh

1847 CE – Sindh was annexed to the British India’s Bombay Presidency

1935 CE – Sindh was made a separate province

1947 CE – The British withdrew from India and Sindh voted to join Pakistan during Partition
– Muslims traveled to Pakistan and Hindus traveled to India during Partition
