The 1990's marked the end of an era of political and social hostility: the Cold War. The United Nations since about half a century ago have been present, attempting to rebuild the world after catastrophic crises such as World War II and the Cold War. Even today, it is looked upon as a powerful institution with succesful, and some less, missions. With the dawn of a new century, and millennium, one must question its survival in a world that has completely changed from that of 1945, from the political arena, to the social and economic sectors. It is with these ideas in mind that we will analyze and appraise the UN's role in our modern time.
The purpose of this website is to present the history and question the future of this key institution of international affairs through chronologies, important dates, presentations of major achievements, pictures, and articles.
