Ulster
Unionist Party
The Ulster Unionist Party is the largest unionist party in Northern Ireland
and the fourth largest party in the United Kingdom. It is organized and
run by the British government from 1921 until 1972. In 1972 the party split
and formed the Official Unionist Party and the Democratic Unionist party.
The latter party was opposed to relations with Great Britain and is hostile
to the Republic of Ireland. The Unionist Party today is run by David Trimble.
Democratic
Unionist Party
The Democratic
Unionist Party is a right wing anti Catholic organization, which is also
a unionist party associated with the United Kingdom. The DUP attacks a
lot of working class Protestants in Northern Ireland, and it was founded
by Reverend Ian Paisley in 1971.
Orange
Order
The Orange Order is one of the oldest political organizations in Northern
Ireland. the organization was founded in 1798 in response to an attempt
at ethnic cleansing by the Catholics. The organization has a "marching
season" every year in where they test the strength of the RUC in different
communities. They parade into different communities, where they are no
suppose to go, with their orange banners and sashes and test their strength.
