Recently, the conflict created by the YASUKUNI Shrine has damaged the already strained Sino-Japanese relations, however this is neither a new nor unexpected turn of events in the relationship between east Asia's two most powerful countries.

The purpose of this webpage is to discuss the importance of the Yasukuni Shrine in world politics by presenting a brief history of the conflict between China and Japan from pre World War II to the present.
