Crest View

[Morgan Street]

History

I have several postcards of this house. One of them bears an inscription that implies this house is on Morgan Street. The third card revealed enough clues to identify it as Miss Stevens' residence on Morgan St. I have since found out from the February 1935 issue of the Alumnae Quarterly that Clara Stevens built this house in 1904 and named it Crest View. She lived here with her sister until 1930, when the property was sold to the College.

Ma says she will write as soon as she has any time to spare. We are so busy now. Do you know where this is? Ma said you would think it was our house. Probably you see that it is Morgan Street, just after you leave the car. Love to all from all - In haste Carrie."

"Aug 9 '08 Dear Flossie: - Do come if you can any time before the 24th. I wish it might be over next Sunday or the next to that. I am to be alone in the office this month. Trolley to Worcester is 2 1/2 hrs. I think not over 3, and 3 1/2 to Springfield: 1 1/2 to S. Hadley. Quite a hard trip! The first part is most interest. Thanks for the news of the wedding. I sent the clipping to J. J. With love E. P. C. My home for the last two years."
