Toshiba PDR-M70 / Tiffen Lens Tests

12/15/00

These are test photos I took with my Toshiba PDR-M70 camera, using the Tiffen 2X Telephoto & .75X Wide Angle lenses, along with the lens adapter. These are items are all available from DCPro Direct.

All photos were taken using the full auto mode.

Note the difference in brightness when the wide angle lens is attached. The flash did fire, but was obscured by the wide angle lens. When taken at night, this same shot was completely unusable for this reason. This lens can only be used in bright ambient light.

* The 2X telephoto shot is included for completeness. You should obviously not use the external lens for this picture.

Summary

Overall, I think the telephoto is the more useful of the two lenses. While both partially block the camera's viewfinder (making outdoor shots more difficult on bright days where the LCD display is not visible), the wide angle lens is seriously hampered by the fact that it obscures the camera's built-in flash.
