The Fall
of the Bastille
On July 14, 1789, an angry mob stormed the bastille in search of weapons
and the prisoners who were arrested by Louis XVI. the bastille was a torturous
and inhumane prison that was a despised symbol of despotism. Storming
the bastille came to represent the triumph of the people over despotism
and oppression.
