Aceh is located at the tip of the western most island in Indonesia. Banda Aceh is the capital of Aceh, it is in the northmost part of Indonesia. |

As you can see from the picture at the left the epicenter of the tsunami on December 26th, 2004 was very close to Banda Aceh. The tsunami has drastically changed the landscape of Aceh. |
