Kim Il Sung, the late president of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was born on April 15, 1912, at Mangyongdae, Pyongyang.  He was born to a poor, peasant family, which was also of a very patriotic and revolutionary background.  He grew up under these ideals, and when he was of age, he acquired a revolutionary view of the world.  He came up with the idea of the Juche, a revolutionary ideal with a basis on Marxism-Leninism.  He applied his creative ideology to Korea.

Organizing the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) on October 17, 1926, Kim Il Sung in fact organized a communist revolutionary organization.  The Union's goal was to achieve independence and build Communism in Korea.  Also, the Union's goal was to spread the idea of Communism around the world and to let it develop.  Through many other organizations, such as the Young Communist League and teh Anti-Imperialist Youth League, Kim Il Sung strongly advocated Communism in Korea.
