Leaders
Kim Dae Jung (ROK) and Kim Jong Il (DPRK)
Kim Jong Il became the next leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea after the death of his father Kim Il Sung in July, 1994. He, like his father, was grown strictly on revolutionary ideas. Born on February 16, 1942, Kim jr. attended Kim Il Sung University in Pyongyang, which had been set up by his father. He continued to defend his father's policies and ideologies of the Party, and made efforts to educate North Korea as a whole under these principles.
As the new hero and upheld leader of DPRK, Kim Jong Il was veiled from the rest of the world. There were slim chances that anyone could find pictures or information about him that wasn't already carefully laid out by members of his Party. DPRK was still closed and hidden from the rest of the world.
However, in the June of 2000, Kim Jong Il and Kim Dae Jung, president of South Korea, held a historical summit in Pyongyang. Kim Jong Il agreed to many of the terms set forth by Kim Dae Jung and both agreed to improve relations drastically.
