Recent Trends in World Spending United States Military Spending Is Current U.S. Spending Justified? How World Military Spending Could be Better Used

Based on data from the SIPRI Yearbook 2004 this graph displays world military expenditures by region over the last ten years. As we can see from the graph global military spending has recently been on the rise. This graph shows that in 2003 the worldwide total was approaching 900 billion dollars. In 2004 global expenditures will have increased even further, to an expected 950 billion dollars. [1] Most of this increase is due to the dramatic increases in United States spending. This site explains world military spending from its history to current trends. As well as examining the United States role in global expenditures and whether such large spending is truly justified. Global military expenditure and arms trade form the largest spending in the world so it is important to examine why this is.
