Kurdish political parties

 PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) Founded in 1975 after the failure of the 1974 Kurdish rebellion in Iraq. This party aims to create a democratic and modern Kurdistan.

 

 

 KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party) Founded after WWII. This party wants to defend democracy in Kurdistan to strengthen the Kurdistan National Assembly, while bringing international attention to the Kurdish cause. They also strive for brotherhood among Kurdish political factions.

 

Kurdish Liberation movements

PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) Commonly held as international terrorists, the group is best known for their leader, Abdullah Ocalan who has claimed responsibility for many terrorist actions in Turkey and Europe. Despite being officially banned in Kurdistan from assembling, the group has enormous world wide support.
