A senior aide of Muse Sudi Yalahow, a faction leader in Mogadishu, was killed in the southwest portion of the capital city. A gunman from the Abgal clan killed Abdiqadir Nur Fiyambro, a deputy to Yalahow. Yalahow is a member of the Somali Reconciliation and Restoration Council (SSRC), which is the most vocal opposition to the Transitional National Government.
According to sources the murder of Fiyambro was a revenge killing for some
opposition fighting that had occurred between the clans. Humanitarian sources
do not believe that the attack was politically motivated to undermine Yalahow's
position against the Transitional National Government.
Somalia still remains a relatively unstable nation where disputes between
clans are common and actions of this nature occur on a regular basis.
