The Global Climate
Now at the end of the 20th century we are just beginning to understand how global climate patterns work. As we untangle the complex patterns it is evident that they are changing rapidly as we watch. The international committees of the UN and other organizations are creating rules and regulations that they hope will help the survival of the planet. They hope to do this while promoting development in the third world and encouragement economic progress in the developed world.
The idea is to reduce emissions of green house gases to levels that allow the environment time to adapt. This requires reducing initiatives to acceptable levels. See article 2 "objective" in the UNITED NATIONS FRAMEWORK CONVENTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE (1992) report.
Education and legislation are required for us to begin to understand and combat the difficulties of our changing environment. There is strong scientific evidence that suggests we will see a large rise in ocean levels over the next fifty years due to rising temperatures. This will have a large impact on international relations as country's land masses and best areas for growing crops change.
