Before I was a biker babe, I was a (relatively) mild-mannered Frances Perkins Scholar at Mount Holyoke College. For those of you familiar with the folksinger Don White, you might say that that placed me on the academic equivalent of the "Second Chance Crew!" This means that I have had a life full of adventures which resulted in my spending my time, money, and energy at forty-something in the pursuit of belated scholarship amongst people young enough to be my children. Eventually I may find a book in all of this, but until then...I finished my coursework in December of 1999, and received my B.A. (Magna cum Laude, thank you very much) in May '00 with a major in anthropology. By the way, the last time I was so excited about being done with something was twenty-five years ago in my first and only childbearing episode. To answer the ever-present "But, what are you going to DO with that degree," question, I must answer that I am a talented and multi-faceted individual with what appears to others to be a truckload of incongruous interests and identities. If you can't fathom what on earth I am going to do with that degree, then the chances are that either you are having a bad day, or I am just much too interesting to even be talking to you! I had hoped to develop a website which would express "each of my personalities." BUT, I am much too busy for that. There's roads to travel and more adventures to discover. The "we's" that are me have decided that the website designer is not our dominant persona :) In the meantime, though, editorial webwork does have its rewards. Do visit one of my current employers, MassLive and see what fun we have. If you can't ride with me, then let's play...! Next page...... |
