Research and Sources

During the summer of 2007 I interned at the Population Council (shown above) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, for a period of six weeks. Along with reviewing extensive amounts of literature related to adolescent health issues and health facility strengthening/capacity building, I conducted several health facility observations in the urban slum areas of Dhaka and the rural Nabigonj upazila in Habigonj district.

I engaged in a series of informal discussions with health service providers, receiving a great deal of Bangla translation assistance from numerous people on the Population Council staff.  I was limited by the time constraints of the internship; however my observations were substantiated by data that has been collected and analyzed by current and former Population Council projects.
