Every one of the 2.3 million people who have
been displaced during this crisis are victims. The innocent ones are
the grandfathers and
mothers, the pregnant women, the fathers and mothers, the boys and girls
.However it
strikes me as particularly sad that in every family,in every situation
that these people have faced, it is the children who have and who will
suffer the most from this conflict.
The babies are born deformed ,many are born dead. The child soldiers
who have been forced to kill are plagued with nightmares and burdened
by
shame
and guilt for crimes they were forced to commit. The children are watching
their parents and siblings die of hunger. They are watching their own
bodies and dreams dry up and die. The children have been forced to
abandon school and hopes of good futures for miserable
lives
in
refugee camps where death ,pain and loss are their only companions.
There are countless testimonies of the horrors
that these children experience daily.

Amnesty International’s report
contains numerous testimonies, including the following extracts:
(This is an Amnesty International
news release published on 19th July 2004)
“When we tried to escape they shot
more children. They raped women; I saw many cases of Janjawid
raping women and
girls. They
are happy when
they rape. They sing when they rape and they tell us
that we are just slaves and that they can do with us how
they wish.”
- A., aged 37, from Mukjar
"The attack took place at 8am … when
soldiers arrived by car, camels and horse. The Janjawid
were inside
the houses
and the
soldiers outside. Some 15 women and girls who had not
fled quickly enough were
raped in different huts in the village. The Janjawid
broke the limbs (arms or legs) of some women and girls to
prevent
them
from escaping.
The Janjawid remained in the village for six to seven
days.”
- N., a 30-year-old-woman from Um Baru
"After six days some of the girls were
released. But the others, as young as eight years old were
kept there. Five
to
six men would
rape us in rounds, one after the other, for hours during
six days, every night.
My husband could not forgive me after this, he disowned me."
- S., from Silaya, near Kulbus.
There is wide spread genocide in Sudan. One
example out of the 100's of cases are the Nuba's.The girls
have been
forced
to become "wombs" for
the arabic soldiers. The boys are sent away to be brain
washed. The adults are being killed .The entire tribe is
being slowly
and systematically wiped out.- www.nuba-people.com Nub
Girls are abused and misused by Sudanese soldiers - guards
in
the camps - as mistresses and wombs for giving birth
to Arabic children.The
Sudan Government has a policy of raping all Nub women
and girls who are abducted
