The Pros of Horse Slaughter in the United States:
As mentioned before, it tends to be leaner than other types of meat from cattle or pigs. Because horses are immune from BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) the cause of Mad Cow Disease, it is
much more popular nowadays. The taste is considered to be quite sweet. The highest
quality of horsemeat is considered to be that which comes from the United States.
While
considered inhumane, if equine slaughterhouses are eradicated in the United States, the
capitalist ventures of horsemeat will be ruined. In addition to that, closing down horse
slaughterhouses will result in the loss of jobs held by Americans. Furthermore, ranchers
interests are jeopardized, it is argued, as they have to ensure that their cattle get sufficient
grazing lands. This desire might never come to fruition if wild horses compete with the cattle.
