In the late 1980's and throught the 1990's Ireland experienced a large economic growth- the Celtic Tiger. With the economy on the rise in combination with the exposure of sex scandals within Catholic parishes throughout the country the prevalence of Catholicism in the lives of the Irish people took a rapid decline. This website explores the transition that the Catholic church underwent as it transformed from one of the most influental powers in Ireland to a symbol of a more conservative Ireland.
