November 9= Day 2: lesson in class with moderators (workbook + audiocassette)

I - (Textbook closed) Direct questions in class: "Mise en oeuvre" in your textbook p.28. Please answer the questions that your moderator is asking without looking at your text book.

II - (Workbook open) Working on material in the workbook with audio-tapes:

5.1 Text work-up: You should begin the text work up as soon as you have viewed the video. Repeat and answer as usual.

5.2 Aural comprehension and oral production:

Match the sentenses you hear with the pictures you see.

Check your answers in key 5.2 at the back of the workbook.

5.3 Oral production: You are asked to play the part of a character in a brief dialogue. Listen to the dialogue, your part will be repeated several times. Then you will hear the dialogue again. You are supposed to say your line when there is a pause. Please try to work with the audio recording alone.

Go to lesson 5 in your textbook, and the accompanying illustrations. Now answer the questions of the"Mise en oeuvre".

Toward Communication

5.4, 5.5 Pronunciation: Please listen and repeat. You are learning the sound "r". It is pronounced in the back of the mouth. It is a gargling sound. The tongue lies flat on the bottom of the mouth, and does not interfer with the air coming out.

5.6, 5.11 Cardinal and Ordinal numbers

5.17 Numbers

5.18- 5.22 The imperative. This tense is used to give orders: "Parle, parlons, parlez". It is used only in the second person singular and plural and the first person plural. There are no subject pronouns in front of them.

5.23-5.26 : Il faut + infinitive. This is used to express an impersonnal way of expressing a necessity, it replaces the third person plural and singular of the imperative which does not exist.

 Il faut parler français!
 Il faut étudier la leçon!

5.27-5.30 Negation with ne ........pas.
 Ça ne va pas
 Ce n'est pas facile.
 Je n'ai pas...

5.31-5.32 Negation of un, une = pas de
 j'ai un frère   je n'ai pas de frère
  j'ai une soeur  je n'ai pas de soeur
 j'ai des frères  je n'ai pas de frères
 j'ai des amis  je n'ai pas d' amis
