3.44 - 3.47 This exercise will develop your ability to read a text for its context, and will develop your skills of induction. (It will also make you practise writing forms of the indefinite and definite articles). This context here is limited to anglo-saxon American and western European cultures, which you may or may not be familiar with. If you don't know or don't like the examples chosen, please replace them by familiar characters of popular stories in Africa. However at the end of your workbook, in the "Keys" section (p.404) you have all the answers...

3.44-3.49 Complete the sentences, check the illustration section of the text book for cues.

3.50 Reading practice: read loud the 2 documents.

• Document 1 in textbook. Why is this a joke? - the artist is taking advantage of a play on words in French between "verbe" the grammatical unit, and "Verbe" the divine force.
• Document 2 : is a spirited conversation between Fido and an unidentified interlocutor, about traveling to various French-speaking places.

3.51 Writing practice: use the paragraph printed in your workbook as a model, changing the elemnts that are different.
