Koizumi paying tribute to the war dead
|
On
October 27, 2005 Japanese Prime Minister Junichro Koizumi
paid his fifth visit to Yasukuni War Memorial since he took office
in 2001. The purpose of his visit was to pay tribute
to Japanese
war dead.
This
action of his provoked staunch opposition on behalf of the
Chinese and South Korean Governments as along with the 2.5 million
war dead, the souls of fourteen class A war criminals are enshrined
in
the controversial memorial.
Why
is Yasukuni Shrine such an important issue in the current
diplomatic relations of the region? What are the reasons for
the conflict
and its historical development?
The
purpose of my web page is to provide you with the answers
of these and many more questions concerning the current
political issue.
