• 1688- Penal Laws established
• 1690- Battle of the Boyne takes place
• 1793- Catholic Relief Act passed
• 1800- Act of Union unites Ireland and Britain under one parliament
• 1835- First recorded secretarian riot
• 1840- The Potato Famine hits Ireland
• 1858- Irish Republican Brotherhood Founded
• 1871- (Jan.) Disestablishment of the Church of Ireland
