1823 - Daniel O'Connell founded the Catholic Association of Northern Ireland and started the Campaign for "Catholic Emancipation"

1933 - The National Guard was formed and outlawed but put forth the beginnings of the IRA.

1972 - Beginnings of the Bloody Sunday Conflict January 30th

1976 - September 1st, The Republican Government forced to declare state of emergency.

1981 - For 66 days starting in April an IRA Prisoner, Bobbie Sands, holds a hunger strike to try to win votes in Westminster Elections.

1987 - November 8th, IRA's Enniskillen Remembrance Day bombing kills 11 and injures 63.

Although Peace Talks have ensued in recent years the violence has not subdued.
THE BLOODY SUNDAY ENQUIRY:
A witness suggested yesterday that his brother-in-law and another man were shot and wounded at an early stage on Bloody Sunday in a deliberate effort by the British army to "draw fire out" from the IRA.
