Timeline of Study abroad
~ February ~
- Flight with Brittish Airways: Boston-->London Heath Row-->Munich. Flew out February 19, arrived February 20. Brittish Airways was an OK airline. Wouldn't rave about it, but not bad either. Though, one of the flight attendants was a bit of a jerk. But that's all. The flight, roundtrip, cost about 660 USD, which is a pretty good deal!
- Stayed at Gabi and Oliver's house in Munich for the first week. After that, we all drove to Karl's house and also visited Lars that weekend.
- Stayed at Karl's house that week....
~ March ~
- Arrived in Freiburg on March 2.
- Attended SLI language course
~ April ~
- Went on a trip with Kaitlin and Allison to Berlin and Barcelona, each one for about three days.
- Classes start mid April... and I do my first Referat in German that's not for a German class. It was about intelligence- this was for my "Neuronale Grundlagen der Persönlichkeit" class.
~ May ~
- Not a particularily exciting month... until my family visited me. That was fun! We went to Baden-Baden one of the days they were here in Freiburg. And we did fun things within Freiburg too, like climb up the Schlossberg.
~ June ~
- Brian visited me! It was wonderful.
- We took a trip to Rome and Paris, spending about three days in each. It was a lot of fun.
- Well, Brian left on June 14, and that was probably my most depressing day here. But, only a little over a week from then was when I took a trip to Naples, Italy. I saw Pompeii, the Archeology museum, Capri, and Mt Vesuvius. Pompeii and the archeology museum were definitely, without question, the best parts.
- Oh yeah, and I would like to say that as a woman traveling alone to Naples, I was just fine, thank you! I never really felt unsafe. I was careful, and also I made some friends at the hostel I stayed at, Hostel of the Sun. Wonderful hostel; if you want to go see Pompeii, I definitely recommend staying in Naples at that hostel very much. It's a relatively safe part of the city and is right by the Bay.
~ July ~
- The last month of my time abroad... mostly spent in reflection, and also in finally doing work for my classes (one Referat and an Aufgabe). Also, going between feeling happy and sad about going home at the end of the month.
